Jesus was not poor, so why does the Church say He was?

The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests - Matt 8:20

Jesus was not poor, so why does the Church say He was?

When discussing if Jesus’ was poor prior to and during his ministry, the immediate response I have received over the past five years is as follows:

The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has no where to lay his head - Matthew 8:20

I came across the information below which seems to make complete sense; however, I am confused as to why so many Church leaders quote the same Scripture yet view it completely differently than below?

Is silent prayer the same as thinking and should we pray out loud?

When it comes to praying should we do it in silence and if so how is it different to thinking?

Is silent prayer the same as thinking and should we pray out loud?

There is a great deal of uncertainty in the Christian faith about how to pray. We all want our prayers to be answered and of course we expect God to hear us. However can prayers be effective if we simply think them or should they be spoken out loud?

Is Business 'For' God or 'Of' God?

If you take a look at the About pages you can find out a bit more about my background, but in a nutshell, I've been self-employed since 1987 in the business to business arena.

I believe that money is the single most contentious and destructive element that exists throughout the Christian faith

How our money damages our relationship with God, but not how you think!

Since the beginning of time, there has always been a problem between man, money and God. Whenever a pastor or minister begins to address finances, the shutters come up.

It is widely believed that the Church is only after everyone's money. They're reluctant to give it away and in respect of the Church of England and the Catholic Church they're never far away from some financial scandal or complaint when it comes to cash.

How do worship songs affect us?

Is it right to sing Matt Redman's Blessed be the name of the Lord?

How do worship songs affect us?

When life “hit’s the fan”, the Church regularly turns us to the Book of Job to supposedly help comfort us, however, it seems to me that there’s a mismatch of messages. Are we really supposed to be comforted by the Book of Job or are we being “left in the lurch” for the sake of entertainment?
